"Julie Metzger, RN and Robert Lehman, MD have enchanted the parents, professionals and preteens in our Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital community for the past four years with their innovative and effective Heart to Heart program as well as their many fine parent education lectures. We at Packard Children’s consider them valued partners in preparing families for a healthy transition to adolescence.”

“As a parent, moving into and through adolescence with your child is all about being able to talk to each other, have a sense of humor about what's going on and be open minded to new ways of thinking. Great Conversations classes and lectures have been instrumental in developing positive and healthy relationships among thousands of families in the Puget Sound area. Children's Hospital has partnered with Great Conversations for over 15 years to help bring these programs to the community.”

"For years, friends with older kids had described a fabulous “growing up” class for preteens and parents, taught by Children’s Hospital. I had always assumed that when my children were ready, we too would attend. After moving to Tacoma, several other parents and I asked the class instructors, Julie and Rob, to consider bringing their humor and wisdom to the South Sound for the first time. Since then, we’ve had two fun, successful years of “For Girls Only” and “For Boys Only” classes. People contact us to find out when the next year’s classes will be!
Parents in Tacoma have spread the word and encouraged others not to miss this unique opportunity to share with their preteens. The feedback has been so positive…the classes really open the door for additional conversations between child and parent, and introduce new questions and information that may not have already been discussed at home...all this with a lot of humor and respect."

"We would like to thank you personally for the outstanding course. I am sure that you've heard this before but you are a very gifted teacher! We both enjoyed the class very much.”

“My daughter had been reluctant to attend and had told me several times that we didn't really need it. She came home from the first session saying how fun it was and she was clearly very interested in the topics! I really feel that the foundation has been set for us to have lots of great discussions about growing up, sex, friends, etc.”

“You did such a great job giving clear, helpful information with humor and compassion. I called my 84-year old mother to tell her about the class and we compared it to how we got information about growing up. We laughed thinking how long it took us to learn the "secrets" that you shared in a matter of hours!"

“Thank you for teaching me these things.”

“I especially liked learning that a lot of people have the same questions as I do.”

“I loved all of it! I learned a lot of stuff and barely anything that I already know! It was all information that I need to know for the future!”
